Serving up Sri Lankan: a cook-along with chefs Nafa & Paul

Join Sri Lankan survivor chef Nafa and award-winning TV chef Paul Merrett as they teach you how to make a Vegan Sri Lankan Pumpkin Curry with Fresh Coconut and a Spiced Basmati Rice. All from the comfort of your own kitchen. 

You’ll be sent a list of ingredients needed before-hand, and will be guided through the cooking class by Paul and Nafa - with a chance to ask questions along the way. You will pick up some great new culinary skills from these talented cooks and enjoy a delicious meal at the end!

Nafa first met Chef Paul when he ran a workshop with our Bread Group – one of the life-affirming therapy groups available at Freedom from Torture. For Nafa, the Bread Group rekindled her love of cooking and in the process helped to rebuild her self-confidence and trust in others. Since then Paul and Nafa have gone on to cook together at events, and Nafa ran a sold-out series of cooking classes in aid of Freedom from Torture earlier this year.

  • The class will be conducted online
  • The class starts at 6:30pm and will run for approximately 1 hour 30 mins
  • All participants will be sent an email with a list of ingredients and quantities needed for the recipe, the equipment needed for the class, and a link to join the class.
  • The list of ingredients will be for 4 people, but to feed more/less you can simply adapt quantities accordingly.
  • This event will be broadcast live and ticket holders will have access to watch it “on demand” for 7 days afterwards.
